Shirley Carr Peigare, 71, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Magnolia Gardens in Warrenton.

Shirley was born in Sampson County, NC, the daughter of the late Everett Anson Carr and Iola McClenny Carr. She graduated from Weldon High School in 1956, moving to Washington, DC to work with the FBI. She then went to work at NASA, where she worked until her retirement. Aunt Shirley was a fun, loving, happy, and sweet person. She loved to play games, do puzzles, cook, and loved being with her family. Shirley loved music, her animals and sports, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Carr; her nephew, Dwane Carr; and her stepfather, J. P. Wood.

Shirley is survived by her brother, James M. "Porkchop" Carr, of Weldon; her sister-in-law, Dawn Carr, of Weldon; her niece, Peggy Johnson and her husband, Jay, of Garner; her nephew, David Carr and his wife, Tina, of Halifax; her great-nieces, Dory and Nicole; and her great-nephews, Ryan, Derrick, and Kevin.

Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends after the services at the cemetery and other times at the home of David and Tina Carr, 3612 Hwy 125, Halifax, NC.
